Lifelong Formation

Lifelong Faith Formation consists of:

 Sowing the Seeds Early Registration

For the 2011-12 Christian Formation year, we are holding “Early Registration.” This will allow our staff to be able to better plan the program, know how many textbooks to order and plan the necessary space for classes. Registration forms are available in the St. Paul Parish Office and the St. Rita Christian Formation Office or may be downloaded here: Registration Packet and Letter

If you have questions, please call Lety at 639-3370.

The deadline to register for the 2011-2012 program year is August 15th. Any registrations turned in after this date will be charged a $50 late fee per family. Please register early!

Lifelong Faith Formation Update

“The Catholic Communities of St. Paul the Apostle and St. Rita, with openness to further inclusions, will operate collaboratively to offer diverse, life-long formation opportunities to people of all ages and walks of life, as directed by the Holy Spirit.”

Now known as the "Sowing the Seeds Collaborative Christian Formation Program," this Lifelong Faith Formation program has led the above named parishes to begin exploring other areas in which we can collaborate to the benefit of all. A group of representatives from the parishes meets regularly to discuss and make suggestions for the collaborative program.

There is a Board composed of the Pastors, Directors and Parish Representatives from the two parishes. Its purpose is to support the enriched catechetical programs and spiritual formation of the people of our parishes. The Board has worked on a strategic plan, created a Vision Statement, and is currently forming standing committees to oversee the governance, finance and curriculum of the collaborative Christian Formation program.

The Sowing the Seed Christian Formation Program allows each parish to share the expertise of the Directors of Christian Formation, who each specialize in one area of Catholic Formation. The Directors work for all the parishes providing leadership and program development.
Director of Child Ministry – Preschool and elementary level Christian Formation, including preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion.
Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry - Middle School and High School Formation, including preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This Director also works with Young Adults, RCIA and Adult Confirmation.
Adult Formation – This is the area of ministry that reaches out to the adults of the community. This is in the first year of working with CAR to provide city wide opportunities for Adult Formation. Both parish strongly support this effort.

This model allows flexibility in programming and the opportunity to provide the same program at more than one location on various days or times. Attendance at any location would satisfy the course requirements at both parishes.

I ask for your prayers as we move forward in Catholic Formation. I also encourage you to get involved in making it successful! Your input and ideas are important to us and will help us develop programs that meet the needs of all God's people.
