Lifelong Formation

Lifelong Faith Formation consists of:

Tri-Parish Lifelong Faith Formation Update

“The Catholic Communities of St. Paul the Apostle, St. Rita and St. Sebastian, with openness to further inclusions, will operate collaboratively to offer diverse, life-long formation opportunities to people of all ages and walks of life, as directed by the Holy Spirit.”

It has been three years since we began our collaborative program with St. Sebastian Parish. Our parish councils continue to meet four times each year to build relationships, foster new ideas and develop ways of working together. About one year ago, the parishes of St. Paul, St. Rita and St. Sebastian entered into a Tri-Parish Collaborative Lifelong Faith Formation Program. Since then, a Board was formed with the Pastors, Directors and Parish Representatives from all three parishes. The purpose of this board is to create a new and enriched ministry of catechetics and spiritual formation for the people of all three parishes. The Board has worked on a strategic plan, created a Vision Statement, and is currently forming standing committees to oversee the governance, finance and curriculum of this collaborative program.

Our parish representatives include Fr. Bill, Carol Badzinski, David Kenny, Barbara Leifheit, Steven Kutsch and Chris Schuster. A finance group, with representatives from each parish, provide ongoing support to the Tri-Parish Board in matters regarding finances.

The Tri-Parish Collaborative Program allows each parish to share the expertise of three Directors of Christian Formation, who will each specialize in one level of religious formation for all three parishes.

Director of Child Ministry - Preschool, elementary level Christian Formation, including preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation & First Communion.

Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry - Middle School, High School & Young Adult Ministry.

Director of Adult Ministry - serving the varied needs of adults in all three parishes.

This model allows flexibility in programming and the opportunity to provide the same program at more than one location on various days or times. Attendance at any location would satisfy the course requirements at all three parishes.

I ask for your prayers as we move forward on August 2nd with this new Collaborative Model. I also encourage you to get involved in making it successful! Your input and ideas are important to us and will help us develop programs that meet the needs of all God’s people. We are planning Town Hall Meetings for parents, catechists, and parishioners to meet with Pastors and Directors to provide important input for ongoing improvement of our ministry programs. Hope to see you there!

Fr. Bill
