Human Concerns Committee

St. Paul Human Concerns is a vital, active and caring group that reaches out in many ways to help others. Our ongoing projects and commitments include the following.

Blood Drive
St. Paul the Apostle sponsors a Blood Drive once a year, usually in the fall, in Father Cox Hall, giving parishioners and people from the community the opportunity to donate blood. Volunteers are needed.


First Friday Fellowship

First Friday Fellowship is a gathering time held after the 8:15 a.m. Mass and Anointing of the Sick on the first Friday of each month. Sign-up sheets for providing the refreshments for the day are locate in the narthex.

Happy Crafters
The St. Paul Happy Crafters meet every Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. to do crafts that are sold at our annual craft fair, with proceeds being donated to a charity.

Hospital Visits
Hospital Visits gives trained and caring volunteers the opportunity to visit hospitalized members of St. Paul to convey the concerns, prayers, and well wishes of our parish.
 

Our Lady's Rosary Makers
Our Lady's Rosary Makers meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 9:00 a.m. Rosaries made are sent to Missions.

Parish Nurse
The Parish Nurse is available on Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the fourth Sunday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to take blood pressures and answer health related questions.

Parish Twinning
This group plans twinning activities that reach out to the people of St. Paul Indian Mission Church in Marty, S.D. An annual mission provides parishioners the opportunity to travel to Marty and assist in a variety of ways.

Prison Ministry
Serve as a mentor to a young man (age 18-22) who is incarcerated at the Racine Youthful Offenders Correctional Facility. Share God's Word, listen, support and make a difference in the life of a young person.

Ridgewood Healthcare Center Volunteers
Volunteers assist on each Monday of January, April, July and October to transport residents to chapel for Mass.

Saint Vincent De Paul Food Pantry
On the third Sunday of each month, volunteers stock the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. Referrals are given to parishioners for St. Vincent de Paul. Volunteers can also help at St. Vincent de Paul's Food Pantry.

St. Rose Community Meal
St. Rose Community Meal is hosted by St. Paul the Apostle four times throughout the year. Volunteers provide food and assist with serving the meal. Watch the bulletin for announcements and information on how you can help.

Sunshine Club
Greeting cards are sent to members who have been sick, hospitalized, had a death in the family, or need their parish's support.

Together in Grief, Together in God
This group provides support to widows and widowers. They also offer group support programs, following a morning Mass, twice during the year. Watch the bulletin for details.

Videotaping Church Events
Special events or presentations that occur at St. Paul the Apostle are videotaped. DVD's may be viewed in or checked out from the Father Esser Library.
